British Open Tournament 2009

First on from Heathrow were Mel & Issy in the 11-16's Women’s Pairs who were competing in their first British Tournament together. They gave a lovely balance routine full of character which put them into 6th place out of 22 other pairs from around the country,  unfortunately they made an uncharacteristic mistake in tempo in the afternoon which put them all the way into 19th place!! Leaving them out of the finals!
The 11-16 Women’s Group of Alice, Lily & Fern were competing in this competition for the first time and found themselves against 25 other groups!  They produced a good tempo routine which saw them score well and with a stunning tempo routine in the afternoon put them into 11th place overall.
In the International 1 section we saw Stacey, Kate & Niamh produce a clean balance routine which put them into 4th place, they then produced a great tempo routine which again left them in 4th place overall. Great placing considering they’d had a couple of weeks of injury and illness leading up to this comp!
Our Women's Groups of Abigail, Marinne & Eleanor were competing as a trio for the first time in the Junior section were up against GB's European medalists! Their balance routine didn’t go as planned, with wobbles & time faults left the girls in 8th place!  Sunday arrived and the girls put Saturday’s event behind them to produce a stunning tempo routine which bumped them up into 6th place, this put them in to the finals on the Sunday afternoon! Our girls delivered a beautiful combined routine with no wobbles this time that put them into 4th place overall, a massive achievement in their first major junior competition!
Well done to everyone who took part, we can now look forward to the Christmas Display and a successful British Championships in March 2010.

Guttenberg Cup 2009

CONGRATULATIONS…

TO STACEY, KATE & NIAMH WHO ACHIEVED 2ND PLACE OVERALL AT THE GUTTENBERG ACRO CUP, GERMANY!

On Thursday 22nd October 11 gymnasts & 2 coaches travelled out to Frankfurt Germany to compete in the 2009 Guttenberg Cup.  We had 3 partnerships competing in the 11-16 & junior section and 1 trio who had to pull out due to injury but still came along to support the rest of the squad.
After a successful training session on the Friday morning the 11-16 competition got under way.  Our first partnership to compete was Mel & Issy, they produced an excellent tempo routine which put them in to 4th place out of 18 other women’s pairs.  Followed shortly onto the floor was Alice, Lily & Fern with an excellent Tempo routine which put them into 5th place.  Both partnerships then had to wait until 7pm to compete their second routine.  Mel & Issy had a slight wobble in one of their balances which unfortunately put them into 10th place.  Alice, Lily & Fern competed a solid balance routine and put them into 6th place overall.
Saturday morning saw the Junior & Senior section of the competition get underway.  In their first ever competition together, Stacey, Kate & Niamh started off with their stunning tempo routine which put them into 1st place they then competed their balance routine which they scored well in and put them into 2nd place overall
